ESL:REBOOT | New Textbook, New Labels

ESL_REBOOT - New Kids on the block (1)

EVERY four years or so, the textbooks go through an overhaul. This year, it’s the turn of the 3rd and 4th grade English books. The new books are… different. They’re much thinner than their predecessors, there are fewer resources in the back, there seems to be less English in the body of the book itself, and there’s a whole new set of sub-headings (for reference, my school uses Cheonjae)

I’M not actually teaching either grade this year, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to keep abreast of things and continue making resources – I have an insatiable need to make things, apparently. First up, of course, is a whole new set of board sub-heading labels, as there is no longer much overlap with the old text books.

NEW labels means new characters, so may I introduced you to, Bakewell, Choco-Cookie and Choco-Pie. For those not in the know, a Choco-Pie is very much like a Wagon Wheel. Jeonju, in particular, is known for it’s Choco-Pie’s. Of course they had to feature in my classroom somewhere! These lads are going to brighten up my English lessons and I hope they brighten up yours too! Not only that, but they save you a whole lot of time writing things out on the board too!

THERE are three different designs, available over on etsy:

ALL you have to do is print them out, laminate them, and attach magnetic strips to the back! I do this with double-sided sticky tape (magnet sheet to laminate) and wide sticky tape (over the magnet so it stays in place.)

NEXT year, the 5th and 6th grade textbooks will be changing, but until then, I’ve re:booted the old sub-headings to fit the foodie theme. This download will be available to download with the purchase of the new subheading labels, at no extra cost.

Coming soon is a re:boot of the original board labels!
